Without friends like thee

What would life be with out friends like thee,
I’ll tell you, like no longer being free,
Imagine what life would be so sad and blue,
To go through life without that special you,
And I know we live so far away,
Through the internet we are like castaways,
Never get to touch or hug you for this I only pray,
For some day I hope we can meet,
To hug and laugh and dance to the beat,
I know this would be a treat,
For now this is all I see,
Is my good friend here with me,
Just think what life would be,
Without friends like thee.

Love is like the wild rose

Love is like the wild rose briar,
Friendship like the holly tree,
The holly is dark when the rose briar blooms,
But which will bloom most constantly,

The wild-rose briar is sweet in the spring,
Its summer blossoms scent the air,
Yet wait till winter comes again,
And who will call the wild-briar fair,

Then scorn the silly rose-wreath now,
And deck thee with the holly’s sheen,
That when December blights thy brow,
He may still leave thy garland green.

I shot an arrow into the air

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where,
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight,
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where,
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song,

Long, long afterward, in an oak,
I found the arrow, still unbroke,
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
